Pumpkin Guts

It had to be done. It was time to bite the bullet and just get the darn thing carved. Daddy was working, so it was my job this year, which come to think of it, it was my job last year too! And maybe even the year before that, but maybe not. Eliza didn't want to have anything to do with pulling out the pumpkin guts, but was eager just to pull the top of it off. Christiana loves pulling out the seeds and strands. That was her job. Then, we scraped the inside the best we could.

Later, I picked out all the seeds, washed them, layed them out to dry overnight, and then toasted them in the oven with salt, garlic powder and a little worcestershire sauce. They smelled great! Tasted pretty good too! I will probably eat them all myself.

This is how our beginning stages of our jack-o-lantern turned out. We compromised on his mouth shape and he turned out looking like a buck toothed hillbilly. I read that you can preserve their life a little if you rub vegetable oil inside and out of your pumpkin after it's been carved. That's why he looks a little shiny.

So, we decided to add a hat, and name him Hillbilly. We added Gabi's pumpkin that she carved at Young Women's and named him Junior. There you have them, Hillbilly and Junior. I don't think I'll be winning any pumpkin carving contests anytime soon.

After carving the pumpkin, Gabrielle and I snuck away to watch "So you think you can dance" at our friends, the Curby's house. I can't believe that show is already on again. I just LOVE it! I wish we could forget the judges this season, even though, I really like most of them. Let's just get to the dancing! How bout' that Utah married couple??? I was so nervous they were going to get split up. Such a relief that they both made the top 20. I am so nervous the show is going to make waves and split them up.
I know, I look like the marshmallow woman in that huge sweatshirt. It was really chilly that night, and now it's in the 70's! It's that time of year, you never know what to wear.
These are only the 3 youngest of the bunch. The school aged kiddies had to go to bed. After we watched the show, the little cutie girl, performed her own dance for us. It was soooo cute! She has seriously got rhythm.

More Halloween fun to come!

We wish you lived near by to trick or treat with us and carve pumpkins and watch "Dance" together. We miss you!

Who is your favorite on the show? My favorite is off due to some mysterious illness. Sad. I'm not crazy about the ballroom couple. I think Lindsay should take her place!

I always fast forward through the judges. I can't watch it any other way.

I haven't developed a favorite yet on the show. I have been a little in and out watching it during all the auditions. I will let you know once it gets cookin. :)

I think Hillbilly and Jr. are great. What fun to carve the pumpkin but best of all the roasted pumpkin seeds. I guess I'll have to get a pumpkin just for that. As for SYTYCDance, I love every single dancer. I am so sad when we lose someone. They are all so great. I wish we could just have all the top 20 every week and call them all winners.
