Envision your bright future!

I was called as the Young Women's president back in the beginning of December.  I had been serving as a ward missionary, so this was a big change.  It hasn't been long since I served in Young Women's so it felt like home.  We had our first BIG activity which was New Beginnings, where we welcome the new girls coming in, talk a little about the program and have a spiritual meeting with an awesome message.  We set it up like going to the doctor.  The girls came in to the waiting room to fill out their medical ( spiritual ) history forms.  My secretary, Anne Johnson, who is awesome gave them their forms at the reception desk.  We had the video "Press Forward" (the 2016 youth theme) looping on a TV, so they could listen to the beautiful music while they filled out their forms, thinking of their spiritual health.   Then I welcomed all our new patients and talked with them a little about the theme, logo, motto, personal progress, and introduced the new girls that would turn 12 this year.  They were Emma Moore and Macey Curby.  That was easy for me.  I have known these girls since they were tiny and have taught them dance for years.

Then we moved into the exam room, where my 2nd counselor, Shauna Thomas, gave a beautiful talk on Pressing Forward with a Steadfastness in Christ, weaving in how our vision needs to be clear and how we need to look forward and see our potential and bright future.  It was interactive and very spiritual.  The girls really enjoyed it and I received many comments from parents as well of how much they enjoyed it.  Then, my 1st counselor, Erin Barnes, stood up and passed out their forms where they could write their own personal prescription of what their goals were and what they needed to do to achieve them.  Then our Bishop Casey Barnes, spoke with the girls and talked with them about the power of prayer.  It was powerful as he told them how they can talk to Him at any time and really share their feelings and thoughts, what they are thankful for, and what they need.  Christiana told me later how much her and Alyssa loved what he had to say and also Sis. Thomas's words.  Then we closed the evening and had refreshments.  Anne is a professional baker, so she of course made the cake.  She actually is the person who made Gabrielle's wedding cake.  Love her!  And we had to have carrots because they are good for your eyes. :)

Before they left, they made sure they went to the fitting room to get their glasses fitted.  I set up a photo booth and took pictures.  They were so fun and lively.
