I think I like the term long-time friends, better than old friends. Old friends just makes us all feel old. Keiko and I have been friends for 20 years. I met her when I was 20 and she was 40. I remember my first day walking into Ruth Mitchell Dance Studio. Keiko was one of the first people I met. I am now almost 43, and she is 63. She is like my dad, a freak of nature. She has never looked or acted her age. She actually still dances and tumbles and has one of those long fabrics hanging from her ceiling so she can do those circus tricks which she really does do and takes lessons for. I was hoping for a demonstration while we were there, but our purpose was for her to photograph my darling upcoming graduate.
We traveled out to her beautiful home in Buckhead and I took pictures of Keiko taking pictures of Gabrielle. I loved every minute of it!
This is the second driveway that leads to the back of her home where her studio is.
In between photos she tried to help me learn some photography tricks with my camera. I practiced on this one, which I actually like. It would take years to learn to do what she does. She has been in the business for many years even before I met her. I wouldn't trust anyone more than I trust her with photography. She is amazing! I can't wait to see the pictures when they are ready.
This is the back of her home and her beautiful yard.
It was when I got pregnant with Gabrielle that I stopped dancing. It's hard to believe that my first baby girl is graduating and Keiko is taking her pictures. Keiko couldn't believe it either!
The Studio
Such a fun afternoon! Wish we had more time to spend together!
